Then the King will say to those on His right hand, "Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me."

Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, "Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?" And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.'" Matthew 25:34-40, NKJV

Helping Hands Ministry is a crisis outreach ministry of Lisbon Baptist Church. As a body of believers striving to follow in the footsteps of Christ, we believe firmly that we are to affect the world one person at a time. Crisis can strike anyone at any time--people lose their jobs or their homes every day. It doesn't take long to realize that many in our world go without basic necessities because of crisis, but this ministry is targeted at helping right here in our own community. Helping Hands Ministry aims to do this by offering the following :

  • Food Pantry: Our Food Pantry serves as a resource for the community for people who are having difficulty buying food for themselves and their families.
  • Clothes Closet: Our clothes closet has clothing and shoes in all sizes for men, women, boys, girls, and babies.
  • Household Goods: We have a limited selection of furniture, small appliances, kitchenware, etc.
We get these items out to the community in two ways. First of all, we conduct giveaways on a regular basis. There are no qualifications, no requirements, and no eligibility guidelines to meet. We trust that God will send people that need what we have to offer. We will announce these giveaways through this website, our Facebook fan page, and through our church announcements. Second, we process individual requests at any time. Someone will be available to assist you if you or someone you know have a crisis that arises. Our coordinator for Helping Hands is Kristie Priest. She may be reached by phone at (910) 645-4196.

We also accept donations of all of the above items. Here are some suggestions for the Food Pantry if you wish to donate (and remember, receipts for tax deduction purposes are available upon request):
  • dry staples such as rice, beans, instant mashed potatoes, sugar, flour, Bisquick/baking mix, pasta, etc.
  • canned vegetables
  • canned soups (tomato, vegetable beef, beef stew, chicken noodle, cream of chicken, etc.)
  • breakfast foods such as oatmeal, grits, breakfast bars, cereal, etc.

We will take donations of clothing and household goods as well; however, before you plan to bring these articles to us, please contact Kristie at the number above--our storage space is limited and we need to make sure we have room for your items. Anything you can donate would be very appreciated and will go directly to those in need in our community. Thank you!
